Practical Information for Your Trip to Porto
Weather & Clothing
The dress code for the Course will be smart casual attire.
Porto enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, with pleasant temperatures year-round. Here’s what to expect for the season:
- Autumn (September to November): Mild and comfortable, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 22°C. A great time for wine tours and sightseeing.
We recommend bringing layers and an umbrella, as Porto can experience occasional rainfall throughout the year.
Electricty
Porto uses Type C and Type F plugs, which are common in Europe. The standard voltage is 230V, and the frequency is 50Hz.
- If your device has a different plug type or voltage, you will need a plug adapter or voltage converter to charge your devices.
Most hotels and public spaces in Porto provide free Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected throughout your visit.
ATMs & Currency
Currency: Porto uses the Euro (€).
- ATMs: ATMs are widely available throughout the city, especially near the airport, train stations, and tourist areas. Look for "Multibanco" machines, which are the most commonly used ATM network in Portugal.
- Credit Cards: Major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard) are accepted in most hotels, restaurants, and shops. However, it's always a good idea to carry some cash, especially when visiting smaller establishments or local markets.
- Currency Exchange: You can exchange currency at banks, exchange offices, and even some hotels. Rates at exchange offices may vary, so it’s worth comparing options.
